80% of young women from Bangladesh's tribal areas do not complete their education.
For girls living in the hill tract areas of Bangladesh it is a long journey to the nearest school. For a young woman to attend school she needs to find somewhere to stay during the week, enabling here to travel back home at the weekends.
Jarung Girls Hostel offers a safe place to stay, study help and daily meals to 43 girls aged between 10 and 18. Although families are asked to pay what they can, often they can only donate a small amount of rice each month. With the hostel's support these 43 girls are able to continue with their education and grow up in a safe environment, transforming their future prospects. Please help us to support Bangladesh's tribal girls.
